y7 in a 94 ex swap
i have a complete d16y7 motor, im going to put it into a 94 ex with a bad motor
is there an obd1 ecu that will run it safely? otherwise i might have to chip the ecu can i use the z6 distributor? or convert the y7 one to obd1? any other problems with this swap wiring wise? i was planning on using the z6 intake manifold because i threw the y7 one away my other option is to use the z6 head if its still good even (block is shot, hydrolocked) on the y7 block but i really dont feel like it because i dont plan on keeping it anyways |
Re: y7 in a 94 ex swap
just run a p06 ecu. as for the distributor your z6 would need to be modified to fit you can reuse the y7 you would just need to swap out the odb2 plug for odb1

you can just use the top bolt for the dist

Re: y7 in a 94 ex swap
i did that swap once when i sold my old coupe...i just grabbed an intake mani, dizzy, and p06 ecu from a 92-95 non vtec civic, worked fine for the 2 miles i drove it before the guy came to pick it up

Re: y7 in a 94 ex swap
i know the y7 one sucks, it was in the trash a long time ago, i was talking about the obd1 dx IM
how will this ---- run on a p28 anyways, because i dont feel like buying a p06, i was thinkin about chipping the p28 just to disable vtec |
Re: y7 in a 94 ex swap
it will run fine with chipping and dissabling vtec. but that will cost more than just buying a p06
