wtf?...help!
hey guys, today my car started acting wierd and ----. just wondering if anybody has experienced something similar and could tell me whats wrong. when i went to pick up my coworker this morning and drive to work, i started to hear wierd popping noises from my ride and feel a tapping from underneath me in my exhaust piping. let me elaborate. in ANY gear, if i take my foot off of the gas to decelerate, i hear a popping noise every few seconds. it sounds like a slight exhaust backfire kinda like mmmmmmmmm...pop...pop...pop. it wouldn't be so bad sounding, but i have an aftermarket exhaust with 2.5 inch piping so its REALLY noticeable. also, when i was coming home, my idle was suddenly acting up. instead of idling at 800-900 like normal, it started idling at 1500-1700 and wouldn't go down. i know i could just adjust my idle, but why the hell would it do that?
any suggestions? thanks |
Re:wtf?...help!
I don't work for nasa, but I think any kind of backfire is because of a lean condition. ??? Your idle could be a vaccum line off of the fuel pressure regulator or somewhere else. I'm only taking a technical leap on this one because no one else is responding, but if either of these turns out to be the problem,,,,,,I knew, I just didn't want to sound like a know it all. lol ;D

Re:wtf?...help!
constant high idle = vac leak.

Re:wtf?...help!
its a vacume leak somewhere. when i did my zc swap, i got a engine that had an automatic so there was a extra hole on the intake mani causing a leak. i pluged it and it ran fine.
