hahaah thats funny, i also ran federal mogul bearings in my built d series. mine had 11k on it...

to me a bearing is a bearing nukka.

as far as bearings goes, I'm not a big fan of aftermarket bearings since they are "1 size fits all" and we all know hondas are not like that. There wouldnt be 2348534 bearing combinations for nothing. However I'm not saying they are bad, you just wont see the same life out of them. Example this D16 block I'm doing had 150k miles on it, and all I did was clean the bearings like steve did. Why? ---- they were freaking mint hardly any wear marks at all, barely broke through the first layer. Thats why alot of the time I just reuse them. The only bearings that I sometimes replace are the rod bearings because they take the beating. I have used ACL bearings before with good luck. This is how I see it.. Engine you really dont care about, go aftermarket ACL/Clevite. Something you care about and plan on keeping for a long time, use factory. The only real downside about factory bearings is most dealers dont have them in stock, you have to buy them in Halves and they are ------- expensive even at my cost.

I think it was project "flatrate". ;) It ran, and it's all good. I'm just not feeling the homemadehone.com love. I said nobody had a ball hone, that's why I went back and got that one. :P

If you have enough patience to wait for it to be shipped, i know for a fact that McMaster Carr has ball hones. And if you're even luckier, order one of their catalogs...more things in there to do homemade projects than most people can even dream about 8)
