I stopped taking pictures when I started putting the rings on because I started thinking "ok, this is gonna take too many fucken pictures", but that's what I have. Maybe it will help with the visual of putting a motor together. (had to do something with the pics once I took em) :-\

so clean looking 8), what did you spray the block with? what grit did you hone with? what kinda rings and bearings did you use?

I soaked the motor for a few days in solvent, then took it out and wire brushed it. Rinsed and dried it, then sprayed it with high temp aluminum color.
I was looking for a ball hone, but nobody had one so I used the spring type. The rings are brand new hastings rings and the bearings are all stock. I took those out, cleaned them, and they all looked good so I re-installed.
The rings are the biggest bitch to install on pistons, compress, and then put in the bore, but using motor oil on all of that stuff generously really makes it easier.

yea piston rings can be a bitch depending on the kind of ring compressor

have you thought about ACL tri-metal bearings? has anyone on here used them? ive heard great things over stock bearings at least on D's

Stock bearings are tri-metal, infact, all stock bearings are tri-metal. :-*

I've never tried the Acl bearings. With this build I was just looking to refresh the compression numbers. If I was going to do a built motor I would have used 10 over federal mogul bearings and had the crankshaft cut down and all that good stuff.
With this one just being a refresh, the factory bearings were already known to be the right size, and they looked good. No sense in changing that.

yes oem can be tri-metal but its not the same as an ACL or Clevite as far as underlying layers of metal

LOL, can you proove that? Nothing beats OEM quality, and the underlying layers of metal really have nothing to do with bearing failure, why infact the softest metal in your engine is on the surface of the bearing ;)

shouldnt you ahve just sprang 100 bucks for new main and rod bearings :-p

i hate to do all that work and then spin one
