Default WOT problem

the car is not boosted

when i floor it, it accelerates, boggs(sp) down for 2 seconds and continues accelerating like normal.

it does this only at WOT and only ONCE every time the car is started

any clues?

Most older cars do that man. Cold starting them then flooring it and seeing that means the fuel is getting cut.

See they have to suppliment the fuel supply (add more) for cold starts, carbureted cars have a choke that does this. A choke manually cuts off the air supply so the car has a rasied fuel count in the A/F mixture.

In volvos and VWs it's called something like a cold start switch, like an extra injector in the intake manifold.. I forget the names. I have no idea of the honda equivalant.

For my v8 with edelbrock carb and choke cable hanging off to the side (i left it unhooked for some reason). I just flood the motor before starting it if the truck has sat for a day. Then it starts, runs like ---- for a few minutes.. then purrs.

The factory 4 barrel carb that I threw away had an electronic sensor controlled choke. Late 60s-70s upper model v8s had a thermal controlled choke. I prefer manual chokes.

Hope non related post helps your *** out.

I think if it was sensor related then you would see the problem more then just on a cold start. If this is happening only on a cold start, I would think fuel starvation.

Solution: Warm your car up before you go off and hammer it.

I warm every single car up, let them idle for a few minutes before I go anywhere.. the older ones require you to do it, the newer ones I do out of force of habbit

Well ----, you should have said that other ----. I was diagnosing a problem for cold starts, like what happens the first min or two the car is started per day or long sit. Like how I'm going to jump in my K5 and start it, I can't just floor it, it likes to stall if I just floor it upon startup like that.. yeah you got bigger problems. Might I suggest you taking it to your local honda dealership and having them diagnose it, cause that's what someone at H-T will tell you :P
