I know ill have to address the hydro to cable problem but are the tranny mounting brakets the same?

 

yes they are. You might have to buy a new clutch, depending on what tranny you had before. 98ctr

sorry, but the mounts are *NOT* the same. the mounts are the same as a b series engine, this is why a b series engine will fit into a 92-95 without a mount kit.

It will bolt up to any d series engine, but not to an EF chassis

 

Is there anything I can do to get the Y8 Tranny in there?

buy a b series mount for the CRX (rear tranny mount) and use that. that shouldent cost more than $100 im guessing (proberly far less. Or as stated before the mount on the CRX is about an inch or so off so you could go ahead and move it the HMT way. plus you will need to get the rear tranny bracket off a 92-01 civic/del Sol. then you need to figure out the hydro VS cable tranny deal, again the B series one avil should work on the D series as well with little or no modification.

 

which brings us to my question: why would you bother? i have bought two 88 Si trannies one for 50bucks the other for 100... and two 'DX' trannies for 60bucks each. for that kind of price your lookin at to get a Y8 in there you can buy a shitload of L3 trannies that will accually bolt into your car...

 

well this will be my "life car" once all the work is done then if i blows it, ill be able to find more hyrdro trannys with low miles
