will a y 8 oil pan work on a z6
I'd assume they're the same, but will the y8 oil pan work on a z6

Re:will a y 8 oil pan work on a z6
yes. the only pans you have worry about are non-vtec d pans on vtec D pans because the non-vtecs dont have an indented area on the back for a tranny-->block mount (if you want to use it you have to hammer part of the pan in w/a rubber mallet like 3/4"). you can however put a vtec D pan on a non-vtec D pan w/ no problem.

Re:will a y 8 oil pan work on a z6
I've used Z6 pans on Non-vtec blocks, and swapped vise/versa no problems. I thought the 96+ pans were different just because the front oil pump had a different bolt configuration on the bottom?

correct the OBD 2 SOHC oil pan does not line up becouse its a diffrent oil pump on the block. The 95-92 oil pan,non-vtec or vtec are the same.

oh i've never tested a 96+ pan. i know 89-91 pans will go on any 92-95's though because i've put a6 pans on z6's and vice versa.
