Why so rich???
ok so i have driven or ran my car recently. its been sitting for about a month now today i go outside and decide to run it for alittle bit, but as it was running it started running really rich. so i took of my cap to the dizzy and cleaned it out along with the rotor. well that did not do anything. i think it maybe the 02 sensor. i do not have any codes but it is running like ----...here is a video (dont pay attention to ricey exhaust it was like that when i got it)

sorry its just a 89 crx with a dohc zc I/H/E/no cat with a pg7 ecu. has new plugs and new wires about 4 months old. it has been running great but today it hasn't

pg7 makes it run a little rich (not that rich), also i know when my crx sat for a few months it blew some smoke like that. it cleared up after a few mins.

the only ecu i have is a chipped pm6 and all the junkyards around here just have ford and chevys there. i think im going to try a new 02 sensor or a new coil. because when i rev it it feels like im not getting enough spark

did you test it? do you know it's bad?
you need to figure out what is broke before you start replacing stuff. |

so im looking in this service manual it does not show any specifications for the ingiter or how to test it...i see how to check the coil but not the igniter

just wanted to see if you checked anything before you replaced it. i know a lot of people just replace parts till it gets fixed. |

no man im tired of spending money on the car so if can i wont buy anything. i think my coolant temp sensor is fucked. that wont make it run that rich will it

ok so i found a cheap ass new oem honda igniter with disributor seals im just going to go ahead and replace those and see if that helps any. i dont think it is the o2 becuase i have never seen an o2 make it run that rich. it idles at about 1000rpm like it always has but it is pretty shakey so i think it has to do with not enough spark

Did you ever drive it to see how it was acting under load? Sometimes after sitting awhile without bearing started or driven a car will act funny. I'd cruise and let it get warm then after it warms up run the piss outta it then see how it acts.

ill try that tomorow. all i did so far was let it run for about 15 minutes i haven't actually driven it like that. i gotta put some gas in it anyways premium is at $2.20 so i think im going to fill it up tomorrow
EDIT:just to make sure a bad ground wont cause this right, because i just relocated my battery but the car was running fine right after that |

PG7's only run rich on ZCs if you have the wrong coolant temp sensor.

ok so i ordered a new oem igniter from ebay for really cheap. so when ever that gets here im going to replace it and let you all know how it runs after that

well i paid 10 dollars for the igniter and it came with the distributor seal so no big loss there. i had a feeling the coolant temp sensor was fucked any ways.

so i have a coolant temp sensor on the way. i ran my car today for 30mins and it was not running nearly as rich just alittle richer than normal. so i took out my plugs and a cleaned them off they had alot of carbon from running rich but by the time i did all this it got dark so i did not tun the car because i would not be able to tell anything any ways so i said ---- it. now that it is running better im going to switch out the coolant temp sensor and see how it goes. i got the one for a crx (pm6) because im going to be running the pm6 once i go turbo
EDIT: today i decided to run it since i cleaned the plugs the other day and while i was looking under the hood i noticed a small amount of smoke coming from the header, apparantly now that it is bright out i could see that two of the four runners for my 4-1 header are cracked at the collector and before the o2 sensor but it is running pretty smooth |
