it stopped snowing so i finally got a chance to get the car out of the car cover and find out why the belts that go on the crank pulley cam off. so when i put the power steering belt on i see that the belt is not aligned with the crank pulley. what happen before this was that my crank sprocket got damaged. i need help fast.

What happened was that the first time the motor was put together, for the first 4k miles everything was fine. Then the crank pulley bolt came loose and sheared up the woodruff key and the crankshaft snout a little bit.

It was a little messed up, slightly but not enough to not put a new key in there with a new pulley. Well we put a new key, torqued it to 100lbs and locktit'ed the bolt.

A few weeks later, while driving the car, the power steering belt was tore to shreds and the alternator belt got stuck behind the crank pulley.

Its too cold to do anything, but the crank bolt seems tight when I checked it by hand. What would cause the crankshaft pulley to move over a few mm?

I think so too.

Take a good look at the crank when the pulley is off it. If it looks fucked, it probably is.

the crank looks kind of like the one in this picture but it is not as bad.
