hey guys im just building my d16y7 motor and i just got done filling the block and all i gota do is take it to the shop to get bored honed and the rotating assembly balenced.
my question is how much hp or max boost i will be able to run on my d and wat the max safe rpm i should rev my engine to.. my whole rotation assembly will be balanced also
and anouther question is it worth it for me to o ring my block so i can hold more boost with out poping my gasket... cost to me is 150 to o ring...

my set up is
d16y7 block
p28 vtec head
vitara pistons 1mm over size
H beam rods
new oil pump
ACL new bearing
fully balenced rotating assembly pully ,crank, rods, pistons ,flywheel and clutch cover
T3/T4 turbo ar is 63 oh the hot side
obd1 p28 running chrome will be tuned for me by paul here in sacramento

the limit has alot to do with the tune. Why dont you put it togather and get a really good tune and let us know. All setups differ from one another so we cant tell you what your limit will be. my advise is tune till you get max power than add a lil more till it blows up then post what your boost level and horse power was when it blew........................And theres you limit

make sure you use arp headstuds, and you could easily make 400+ whp on 25 ish psi, but its bound to blow up eventually, stay safe maybe around 18 ish psi making 300 ish whp....

ok thanks guys except for the trial and blow up idea no thanks i killed two d16 with turbo already the first one wiht no fuel managment and this one i mented a piston and scuffed all the cylinder walls because it was a gay ebay boost chip i was running and 450s and it was getting 16 mpg on me so i got a egay fpr and tuned the fuel pressure down to get good 30 mpg and my ricer af guage was showing me a little on the rich side so i thout it was ok.. but it was lean cuz my guage was hooked up to the seat belt light wire for power..... so i was getting a incorect reading cuz the in voltage was wrong.. so ya.. ill try to post some pics of my block now it has not been bored yet... just filled cleaned up..

Anyone got the link for that? I forgot exactly what happened, I'm leaving my B16 block alone on a CT26 20-25psi setup, forged rods and pistons though.

^^^ sounds nice. I was gonna use a spare ct i have on my car.. but i got a great deal on my turbonetics.

turbo4life- I just read your post again.. 1mm oversize pistons is waaay too much on stock sleeves for any kind of high power application. Your gonna frag a sleeve at 275hp at the most.

Just what I was gonna say. I believe it was mentioned somewhere on here that the oversize on vitara's (1mm) was equal to around .040. The most you'd want to take a d-series block over is about .030. And that's even pushing it for big power goals.

yep- .020" (.5mm) is as much as i'd go.
