Well what engine is the 97 Civic one? It should be stamped on the block. Depending on that, you'll be able to figure things out a little better.

Hmmm, well if you've got the parts and don't want to put much money into it, I'd use that Y7 and put the Z6 head on it using the Y7 tranny. But, if you wanted to find another tranny and go for an Si or something with some tighter gears, you might be better off. Either way it will work just fine depending on how much money you want to put in.

Well, I've never actually done one. My buddy I remember did and I know they have a kit available that will allow you to swap over fairly easy. Maybe someone else can chime in and help you out a little more. I'll see if I can find where to get that kit at, I don't remember who makes it off the top of my head.
