400 is pushing it. i heard 350 whp is about the max possible on stock rods. i made 319 and they held, but my pistons did not.

id run the tuner toys rods. cheapest and solid for 400whp.

hey 319 on a 14psi spike dave.

they did see 319. i imagine i was around 300whp for about 2.5 months on 12 psi.

if not for that ssac wastegate id still be rippi her.

Ok Im not going to debate it. BUT, that 319 was a dyno spike at the very end. Didnt look anything like a boost spike. Not even close. :P
Personaly, Id feel like a stunna telling people my car made XXX whp, from a one time freak dyno. O0

tuning is key 300 is a fair amount on stock sleeves w/ no real worries

raiden571 07-26-2005 10:15 PM

Re: what rods to use on turbo

sleeves can handle alot. unless u plan on going over 400whp, i would not worry at all about the stock sleeves. there are dozens of people pushing 500 with stock sleeves, i would not go that far, but it is possible. the main thing will be piston, and rods and do not skimp out on simple things like bearings, rings, etc.

lets go on the facts that a reliable build that will last is 300 whp its kinda proven

Re: what rods to use on turbo

well the motor is being built from ground up.
so far i have a gsr oil pump, ls block ls crank and a stock gsr head.
plans are to get 400hp.
was thinking iam going to buy forged turbo pistions, rod bearings, duel valve springs, head studs, and eather I or H beams rods.
dont know which ones to use

i beams or h beams dont matter
dont get the light weight i beams cuz there weaker than h beams and they cost more (crower)
The thick ass crower i beams are nearly indestructible.

It doesn't matter and then you go on to say why it does matter.

I would go with some Eagle H-beams. Can;t go wrong there.
