what rods to use on turbo
what rods to use on turbo LS/vtec
i have the stock ls rods and want to know if there good for 400hp? can they handle 15psi the head is a gsr |
Re: what rods to use on turbo
anyone know :(
|
Re: what rods to use on turbo
400 is pushing it. i heard 350 whp is about the max possible on stock rods. i made 319 and they held, but my pistons did not.
id run the tuner toys rods. cheapest and solid for 400whp. |
Re: what rods to use on turbo
Josh, dont make me say it. 319whp what?
|
Re: what rods to use on turbo
hey 319 on a 14psi spike dave.
they did see 319. i imagine i was around 300whp for about 2.5 months on 12 psi. if not for that ssac wastegate id still be rippi her. |
Re: what rods to use on turbo
Ok Im not going to debate it. BUT, that 319 was a dyno spike at the very end. Didnt look anything like a boost spike. Not even close. :P
Personaly, Id feel like a stunna telling people my car made XXX whp, from a one time freak dyno. O0 |
Re: what rods to use on turbo
what about I or H beams with turbo pistons
how much can stock sleevs hold for boost? |

Re: what rods to use on turbo
tuning is key 300 is a fair amount on stock sleeves w/ no real worries
|
Re: what rods to use on turbo
sleeves can handle alot. unless u plan on going over 400whp, i would not worry at all about the stock sleeves. there are dozens of people pushing 500 with stock sleeves, i would not go that far, but it is possible. the main thing will be piston, and rods and do not skimp out on simple things like bearings, rings, etc.

Re: what rods to use on turbo
lets go on the facts that a reliable build that will last is 300 whp its kinda proven
|
Re: what rods to use on turbo
well the motor is being built from ground up.
so far i have a gsr oil pump, ls block ls crank and a stock gsr head. plans are to get 400hp. was thinking iam going to buy forged turbo pistions, rod bearings, duel valve springs, head studs, and eather I or H beams rods. dont know which ones to use |
Re: what rods to use on turbo
i beams or h beams dont matter
dont get the light weight i beams cuz there weaker than h beams and they cost more (crower) The thick ass crower i beams are nearly indestructible. |

Re: what rods to use on turbo
its i just want to stay under 750 for pistons and rods
