Re:what motor?

any obd 1 engine should be fairly ez

any obd 0 or obd 2 is a little different but not impossible

i like b18b
decent horse good platform to boost

b16a2 wouldn't be bad either

really up to what want to spend

why not just boost your motor?

Re:what motor?

Well if your in a 5g you might as well go B-series, since there really isnt to many DOHC ZC 3g's availble (obd1) So, go with what ya like or what you can get for cheap. The B18a/b LS are pretty decent (with a turbo ofcorse) but in stock form they feel kinda like ----, and sluggish. Thats why alot of people go with B16a's they put out more power in stock form, and love to rev. OR if ya got a bit more money Go LS/Vtec or a simple B18c GSR/Type R swap.

Re:what motor?

If you are going to do a b series, I'd go with a b16. Most bang for the buck. It's a good motor for boost too. The B18 doesn't put up with boost as well.

Re:what motor?

go with the h22a, its a good drop in with little or no modifications with aftermarket motor mounts

bambooseven 01-09-2004 02:54 PM

Re:what motor?

the H22 is a ------- lame motor to put in a civic. it just doesn't belong there, civics have B/D series motors, H's belong in preludes and accords, and the occasional RWD mid engine Del Sol. god thats a ------- RICE thing to do, waste a bunch of money one a h22 in a god damned eg that'd go faster with a ------- turbo D. GRRRR >:(

Re:what motor?

b16a2, you dont need to cahane anything to make it fit

MrNiceGuy 01-15-2004 09:43 PM

Re:what motor?

dropping an h22a in a eg civic is not all that complicated. all u really need is some after market mounts. h22a gives u more horse power then b16a's and b18's, and it only cost about the same price as a b16, or even less.

Re:what motor?

That;s true ;D
But if you wan to go turbo afterwards...you'll regret it if your budget is on the low side, cause you wouldn't be able to boost it as much.

Re:what motor?

uhm.. and what the hell do you plan to change gears with, hopes and dreams?? you have to cut out the stock shifting mech / and plate and weld in a flat plate and 4 nuts for the mount on the lude shifter. then you have to cut a hole in the fire wall to feed the shifter cables through. then you have to bang and paint the engine bay. then a mount kit. then good luck getting a turbo to fit in there.

lets see.. with a gsr motor all you need is mounts and the ecu w/ axles. the linkage already fits. ::)

Are we voting here? I vote GSR if we are voting. :D

bambooseven 01-17-2004 12:38 PM

Re:what motor?

I vote turbo LS, or GSR. H22's are for accords, preludes, and ricers.

Re:what motor?

I vote b16...u don't wanna h22...try and take corners in that thing doing 65 on a back road...it sux, no control. H22's are fine for going in straight lines (i.e. drag racing), but for a daily driver, get a B. Plus, u can turbo it cheaper, make more hp, and still turn! ;D

Re:what motor?
