What kind of sound is this? Is it bad?
I hear this sound from the engine occassionally. But it sounds like steel marbles being dropped. And the engine shakes just a bit. Seems like it doesnt have enough power.
It's not a pinging sound. It just makes that noise when i am in a higher gear. (3rd gear?) going at an average speed limit. And when i need to accelerate i step on more gas and the noise appears. Anyone have similar experiences with this?
I have a JDM B16a motor in my 92 Civic Hatch. Not turbo (yet)

It still could be. Check your timing. Sounds like it might be too advanced.

oh i remember now. When i changed the igniter off the disturbutor I forgot to get it timed.
SO how do i do timing on my engine? I got a timing gun. But not mines. So help?

you can look in your repair manual for more details. but basically, hook up the clamp from the gun to your #1 cyl spark plug wire, and pos/neg to battery. start your car, make sure its idling normally. when you look on your timing belt cover, you should see an indent kind of like a v, and another mark that lines up with it. point the gun down at the crank pulley and press the trigger. you should see three marks. look down through the v, making sure the other mark appears in the center. if you are timed correctly, the center of the three lines should line up with the v and the other timing cover mark. if this is not the case, your timing is advanced/retarded. you then need to loosen the three bolts on the distributor and rotate it clockwise or counterclockwise until all of your marks line up. when all your marks line up, retighten those three bolts check your timing again. finished.
anything i forgot, or am wrong about? its been a while since i had to time my rex, so i might have forgot something.

Don't forget to jump the two wire connector.

the service connector. on mine (a crx) its a blue connector behind the carpet thats behind the glovebox, but above where your ecu is. take a paperclip and put the ends into both holes in the connector - also known as jumping it. i dont think that this is something you MUST do, but you should probably do it. judging from your s/n im guessing you also have a crx, so it should be in the same place.
yes it is something you MUST do. that sets the ecu in open loop mode so it doesnt adjust timing on its own.
also if you have a crx, depending on year it might be near the ecu above the kick panel or under the hood on the drivers side near the shock tower. if its under the hood its a yellow connector just hanging around. I believe on 88-89 its underhood. 90-91 its in the int.
