what the hell???
JDM D15B taking a dump.....pics:
here's what I found in the oil pan
Motor was spotless on the outside, looked barely used. The coolant was perfect. I cleaned everything out, installed a new oil pickup and have been running it for 2 mos., it does seem to use a bit of oil. I run Mobil 1 but no smoke out the tailpipe. My concern is now I'm going to boost it, should I change the headgasket? Was that the problem? It doesn't seem to use any coolant.

damn dude, i'd be pissed. clean that ---- up as good as you can, put it back together and put some of that sludge out ---- in, let it run for a few minutes, then drain it, i'd say repeat that a few time, unless you're tearing the whole motor down anyways, but i'd hate to see teh top end

Top end was fine, I have since put the motor in my car and run engine flush through it twice with 3 very quick oil changes. It runs great, but what would cause that oil?? Age? I assume the motor has sat for years because externally the motor was perfect, like new! There are no knocks although, like I said, it does seem to use oil, I don't see it out the tailpipe, but when I autoX'ed it a few people said it was smoking a bit out the tailpipe.

Re:what the hell???
So whats involved in doing rings on a D-motor, can it be done in the car or do I have to pull the motor? The motor seems to use a fair bit of oil so I suspect it's the rings, how har are they to replace?
