obvious reason, it blew the ---- up. #2, #3 and #4 rod broke to ----, w/ #3 being the worst.

ideas to why ?

didnt do anything. just got it tuned through out the rpm range and went to do a full pass. in 4th gear around 7k at ~120mph it kind of studered for just like a sec and then it started going and thats when it went. i have no idea.
aft's were in low to mid 11's under boost at all times.

plugs are bosh super 6

Last time I saw a dyno sheet on a 60 trim t3/b16 it made almost 280hp@11psi. Taken into the account of less cfm flow for a z6, and I'd still say you were making above 200hp on a stock block. What happened to you was nothin more than stupidity and failure to read/compute air flow maps. :P

I would go with Bone on the Y8 manifold thing, and you're still running a few degrees too much timing up top, but I wouldn't expect either of those to kill a motor that quick..

the timing Im gonna say isnt to aggresive but the failure most likely is a beat old motor that was ready to go already

All these my stock z6 or z6 w/ vitaras made god amount of power is getting out of control. These motors are old and the fact they have small rods and you have a motor with 150k already wants to piss odd rod bearings being drivin by a gammy means this is what happens

Yeah, I agree with you. There's nothing about that timing map that would kill a motor in short order unless it was ready to pop anyways.

Re: what happened ?? **pic** w/ timing map

of course timing is based at the dist so if it was not a factory settings now we have an issue but Im gonna stick with my gut

beat old motor that already wanna to go the scrapyard

Make sure you sync your timing next time, just in case.

HMTdmc 04-14-2007 11:34 PM

Re: what happened ?? **pic** w/ timing map

I wish I could sync my timing. I have an auto f22 block and a manual tranny. on auto's the timing sight is on the flexplate and on manuels the sight is on the crank pulley So either way I have no block sight or no marks to shoot. :-[

also dont mess with the bosch plugs. ngk's have been tried and are true to boosting. stop ------- around...

Get the manual crank pulley? Get an OBD2 oil pump + sensors? You have lots of options.

Crank pulley is much easier, and I know OBD1 JDM F22's have the marks on the pulley as I held it in my hand today.

Oil pump with sensors is a ------- annoying and long job with the motor in the car, I know that firsthand too.

HMTdmc 04-15-2007 03:04 AM

Re: what happened ?? **pic** w/ timing map

wellmy problem is the auto block doesn't have the sight on the front of the motor for the pulley marks. I figured by your post that the sight is on the oil pump. If thats the case I'm kind of forced to change it so I can set time.

The way Ive been tuning the car from day one has been watching for rising ect's and listening for det.

A few weeks ago I took everything out of the engine bay except for the block so I could clean everything up and paint everything since I put it back together I the cars ran weak. it doesn't respond to boost like it did. So Ive been tracking down the problem since tried a bunch of things. Now I want to try setting it to base time. I dunno what I did I'm just trying to figure it out. one thing at a time.
