What ECU to use after Swap?

I recently swapped in a JDM SOHC vtec ZC engine on the car, an 88 dx hatch. The engine is just like a d16z6 but it is stamped ZC and after some research found it has 130 bhp. I have been using it with the old dpfi intake and ecu. I will swap the intake soon. I have both an Si intake and the stock Z6 intake. I was told before I could use the stock Z6 intake with an Si ECU. I just want to know and make sure I can, also Could I use an 88-89 integra ECU instead? Will both work. To Control Vtec engagement i'm using a shift light for know, later I'll get a vfac. So i do not need a vtec ecu. What do you think?
thanks in advance

Also, I forgot, I'm planning on using an Si Dizzy on this. Would the integra ecu work with the Si distributor? Can I use an integra distributor? I would just get everything out of an Si, but I cannot find any in my local junkyards, but there's a lot of integras.

Your Si ECU will work with the with either intake. A teg ecu will be fine also (<91).

PM6 or PR4;)

Why would u use a dual cam ecu on a single cam? I highly suggest u use a p28 (obd0 -> 0bd1) as u will not get full performance with just a vtec activator switch (i know first hand - the vtec cam has different fuel maps). If u don't wanna go obd0->1, get a VAFC so u can adjust fuel and activate vtec and use a SI ecu.

I was using a P72 on a D16z6 once and she flew al the way up to 8k RPM. no problems. i like the fuel curves and it seams to react better. that is why i would use a DOHC program on a damn SOHC.

Thanks for the help. Makes sense. I need to get a distributor now and can finish this up, hopefully this weekend.

Re:What ECU to use after Swap?

I have a P28 also but I have not found any info on wiring changes. I even have the plugs for the ecu, would make it easier if I could just use that with existing harness. I'm not sure if it is possible or safe to just cut the wires and use the p28 plugs and ecu.
if not can i use a PG7 ECU 88-89 integra.
I'm sure I will not find a PM6 around here. But probably can get one from an older integra, PG7 or PR4

Re:What ECU to use after Swap?

Can't use the teg dizzy on sohc's but the ecu's you can. It usually goes match the dizzy with the ecu but if it's odo0 and then its open game except for those dx ecus are junk. The obd0 teg ecus work with great though the higher redline is a bonus, but it's also a killer. Due to the fact that the limiter comes in at 7800 and I know honda engine are tough little buggers but stock d-series won't last long hitting 7800 all the time. I'm running a d15b2 with a z6 and pg7 due to the fact that I'm not into doing the whole ecu wiring and obd1 change and the pg7 give me a little high fuel and timing then the pm6 to compensate for when the vtec come on. Sorry for the novel. :-*

Re:What ECU to use after Swap?

I'll probably go with the PG7, went to a junkyard by work and they have 3 manual tranny. No Si's anywhere. I'll probably have to ebay the distributor. The resistor box I'll probably use one of a 90-91 integra. Thanks for the help.

Re:What ECU to use after Swap?

Use the teg ecu, but uses the pm6 if you plan on ghettodyning since the pg7 can't be used for that. It may be just a pm6 now but just think what can be done a 90hp civic. Ghettodyne will show you the light(with an eprom burner)and more cash in your wallet in the long run.

Re:What ECU to use after Swap?

some1 correct me if im wrong. But I dont think you can use the z6 intake mani. It has different sensors. you need to use the a6 manifold, a6 dizzy a6 ecu and z6 head.

alot of ppl prefer the y8 head because the a6 dizzy doesnt fit right on a z6 but bolts perfectly to a y8

Re:What ECU to use after Swap?

That was my original question and I was told I could, that everything would fit, sensors etc., I dont's really have the a6 intake, a friend of mine has it and I was planning on buying it from him, but since the z6 looks bigger I wanted to use that one, and of course i have that one in my garage, I was told I could. If not I want to know before my friend sells it to someone else.
This is what I need If I understand everything right.
Distributor 88-91 Civic Crx Si/EX
ECU 88-89 Integra PG7, 90-91 Integra PR4, or 88-91 Civic Crx Si/EX PM6
Resistor Box 88-91 Civic Crx Si/EX, 90-91 Integra. Any others?
Intake Manifold??? Either 88-91 Civic Crx Si/EX or if Possible stock Z6 manifold if all sensors/plugs fit.

Am I right??
Thanks again for all your help.
David

Re:What ECU to use after Swap?

i dont think the 90 91 teg ecu would work, its a bseries ecu and i think its got different sensors it looks for. the 88-89 teg uses a d16a1, like a DOHC ZC and will plug right in.

Re:What ECU to use after Swap?

You can also look for accord resistor boxes from the same years as the civics and integras. The integra ecus will work as long as it's not obd1. the pr4 are cool to use. I've even heard some people using the obd0 dohc vtec ecus on there zc's. And for the mani ?'s the z6 or even the y8 will work on any d series head. Just look out for the auto mani's cause some are a little different. The only thing you may have to do is extend some sensor wires but everything is a complete swapover. Also using the later mani's, if you use the throttle bodies, the map sensors are all located on them so no need for the one on the fire wall along with the other valves. One last thing is the newer mani's only less vacuum ports and may have to "t" some lines.

Re:What ECU to use after Swap?

Is the distributor on the hf the same as the Si? There's a guy on Ebay saying they are. Just want to make sure because I saw an hf at a Junkyard close to my job. Maybe I can pull the distributor and resistor box out of that one.
