Default What do I need for my D16 Turbo rebuild?

Hello my name is Chris, and I have 2 si, d16a6 engines one from my 89 crx and one from my 88. I am planning to run a garrett T3 turbo at about 5-6psi of boost with an intercooler. I was wondering what I would need to install on my engine for a basic forced induction engine rebuild? I am planning to get the 88 si's head polished and the runners cleaned and change the rings. The engine currently has 124,000 kms on it. I dont know if i should run a block guard, change the pistons, rods, head studs, etc... If anyone knows anything about rebuilding these d16a6 engines made for turbo please if you can help me that would be great. Thanks for everything ... Chris

At only 5-6 psi I would just go OEM.

DO NOT USE A BLOCKGUARD!!!!!!! 6 psi will not need any sort of cylinder wall reinforcement. Your asking for trouble.......

Ok, since I'm doing the same thing, I would swap LS rods with either some SRP pistons or use some D16Z6 pistons (Z6 pistons are domed and good for turbo). Get a good quality head gasket like Mr. Gasket MLS (Multi-layered Steel gasket)and some good piston rings either total seal or Honda piston rings. Send the block to be checked and honed. Resurface the head and do your own port and polishing on the head, intake manifold, and exhaust manifold. Dont forget the oil pump, what I did, I bought an Honda OEM 1998 oil pump for an EX (SOHC VTEC); it has better flow than the D16A6, polish the crank and get some good bearings and thats about it. I think

Use caution with the Total Seal rings. I would just go OEM for the low amount of boost you plan on running.
