To make a long story short, i lost my delsol and now i have a 99 honda civic ex. It is ok. My question is, what can i do with this engine? I mean can any number come out of it, which i would be proud of? 300hp? OR am i looking at a loss, meaning having to do a swap. Maybe i could use the bottom or top end? You guys know what u are doing just send me in the right direction.

well you can go to ways NA or Forced induction to get the power you want i would go with FI can can go with the HMT style witch i like or a kit but ether way i with you'll be happy with the power gains at the end

when u say na, you mean fully building right? I don't believe that out of that little engine i could get 300. fully building and cam gears pullys intake manifld, fuel rail, Afc, 720 injectors. Maybe 250. But is it worth it? Making the engine fully build can be expensive. I have seen fully built b16a go for 2500. I am lost help. lol =]

ya man when i say NA i mean built overbore cams pullys port and polish ect. but i think you will be happyer with a turbo
and some head work maybe even get it sleeved

ur not going to hit 300 with that d16,even with a turbo ur going to get more out of it boosting it read around in the FI section and read about what everyone el;se is doing(look at the setups on this sight) on that stock d16 i have heard that there only good for about 220(rode pistons ect.) but to make that ull have to run prob 10-12 psi. and to do that ull need to do some block reinforcement,450 cc injectors, some kind of fuel management(other than a fmu) and spark timing.thats about it with out building a motor and even to reinforce the block ull have to pull the head so how much money do u have, how fast do u want to go,and how much time do u wan to spend

BTW you have a D16Y8 in your EX 127hp and yes it can take around 200-220 hp before breaking rods. But usually the first occurance of detonation will kill the engine so be careful. Getting the turbo kit together and installed is easy and can be cheap (under $1000) but tuning is where it's at. tuning makes the difference. check out www.Hondata.com or www.Zdyne.com for an ECU. You're gonna have to switch back to OBD1 to make things easier to tune. OBD2 is the devil.

thanks for all the great feed back. You guys are so much better then Honda-tech (aka, ********). Plus it seems you guys know what the hell you are doing. I will look into the turbo. But making it for about 1000, omg i wish. I know i can use the turbo out of so old car at a salvage yard but what about the manifold, what is a good on for the d16 block? That can handle the little 205 hp but also if i get into some bigger numbers. Also what kinda intakes are u guys using? I know when i had the supra people where making costum fab ones and one doing that here for cheep? Another thing would it be ok to use the 450cc injectors for the supra on the d16? or are they different? Or i know someone who just recked the rx7 and i believe there injectors are 550cc. I have been away so long i forgot if the stock fuel rail can handle the new injectors or do i have to buy new ones? I guess i have alot to catch up on, you guys go to fast for me. I am still back in the past. lol

ok as far as turbo yes u can but look at what everyone else is running no a d16 a t 25 is nice or something small like that.as far as the man. u can go on ebay and by a nice tubular one or get a hf man.(has cat right below the man.)and take it apart and use the top section along with a adapter plate. but read the post on determining if a turbo is good that will save u alot of money.if u go with anything bigger than stock injectors u will have to do some fabrication to put them into the intake man. but if u do that will most likely need some sort of fuel management. start out with 6-7 psi,stock injectors,and an fmu.***go to the forced induction section and read all the posts at the begining (faq ext.) good to the turbo projects and look at there setups,and look at the tech projects theres a write up about putting 450s into a honda ***read around and look at what everyone else is running u will be surprized at what u will learn**
