What exactly is this? It also runs into the firewall to a hard line like a fuel line? Will I be able to remove it? I would like to put my catch can here. Also this is my old setup totaly different now.

It is emissions crap.You can remove it with no ill effects.It's called a charcoal canister.

Does anyone know where the line that runs into the car goes and if it runs of a vacuum.

If I'm not mistaken it goes back to the fuel tank. It stores excess fuel as vapor in the charcoal until the car is started again.
