VX block questions

VX blocks have the same rod lengths as normal D16's, despite being D15's. But they have the same stroke as a D15. What is the difference between a b7 and z1 block, I'm assuming the cranks are the same, different rods. What if I used a b7 block, (crank and pistons) and then just used D16 sized rods? I'm guessing the pistons would come out of the bore due to the extra length of the rod. So are th vx pistons way different? If someone understands what I'm talking about, enlighten me as to the differences. ??? O0

Re: VX block questions

D16 rods won;t fit on D15 crank..........

maybe you need to see this...........D15B8 block with DX rod and piston in #3 and a VX rod and psiton in #2.......

Best guess is D16 slugs will be .050-.060 above the deck..........

Re: VX block questions

If I machined the big end of an LS rod and then put a VX piston on it, could I then put it in a VX block? Could I then put it in a DX block? What's the difference between the blocks, or is the difference in the piston. I see that the picture shows they ae both about level with the block despite having different length rods.

Re: VX block questions

Why all that work just to put a vx piston on it? I could see if you were looking to do a nice 1.5 NA build to have a better rs ratio but being this HMT I'm assuming you looking to boost this. Too much work IMHO. I always wanted to do a 1.5 block with vx rods and pg7 pistons but the domes would be super incredibley close to the head if not laying a serious smack down on them "The Rock" style. :P

Re: VX block questions

I want to do this because of what is sitting in my basement. A bunch of 1.5 blocks, some LS rods, and a bunch of heads I have no idea what to do with. :8 You are correct though, with the better r/s ratio and a built bottom and top, I plan on turning some high revs for a sohc, if I get all this worked out.

Re: VX block questions

VX uses smaller D15 rod bearings..........

Use the VX rods and pistons with a Y7 head they can handle 10-12 psi.

Ask D16Y8 :)

Re: VX block questions

So the VX crank is even smaller than a b7 crank? I want to use my LS rods since they are the same length and that would make a motor that can rev and handle a good amount of boost. Not sure on what pistons to use yet, definitely going to be high compression. 10-10.5:1

Re: VX block questions

VX has same bearing size as the D15B7/8, just a lightweight crank, so neither gonna work.......

Your wasting your time, you NEED a JDM D15B crank to use the LS rods, then good luck finding pistons with a 27.5-27.7 mm comprssion height.

how tall are vitaras?

Re: VX block questions

good question, never looked into them yet...........

But I'm wanting higher compression...........I might get more that I want though.......

13.7 using stock pistons.........holy ---- blundar gonna have fun tuning it!!!!!!!
