Default VTEC springs into nonvtec head...

Heres the plan.I'm going to do a budget All-Motor LS build.
I picked up some 404's and now its time for springs/retainers.

Q: Has anyone on here used springs out of a vtec head in a nonvtec head?

I want to build this motor to about 160-170whp under $1,000 total.Any help will be great.

I've got thge same cams. Use the Crower valve springs and Ti -retainers. Even the Vtec cams Crower makes, they insist you run a more durable/stiffer spring / retainer combo. Theres alot more lift in those cams over stock and if you were to run a set of factory springs, your looking at possible valve float / binding at higher RPM's. That can result in some costly damage . After replacing your springs and retainers with the dual spring setup that Crower makes, you can probably be making some decent power up to 8k, but be careful your rocker arms don't fly off Now would be the time to pull the LS head and P&P it at the same time. Your gains from those cams will be much higher with a good flowing head.

As of right now it's still on the stock block and running an FI setup (my 2000 Integra LS). I've got a wealth of "buildup" parts I've been collecting for a while now that I hope to eventually put to good use when the time's right. The 404's, SS valves and a propperly built head being one of them. But the FI setup consists of: T3/T4E .60 trim, Neukin ramhorn, 2.25" charge pipes, SS braided oil lines, HKS SSQV blowoff, Deltacreep wastegate with upgraded spring (9-13 lbs), Bored TB, ported IM, OBD2B-OBD1 ecu harness, and I'm doing all my tuning running Uberdata and a few wideband kits
Hopefully one day I will get around to tearing it back appart and re-building it with forged internals etc. Just want/need the time.
