VTEC problem
Ok guys this is for a friend of mine but he has a CRX with a 1st gen B16 and he had everything working properly for a while and then he was removing some wires and cut something that shorted out and fried his ECU. He bought a chipped ECU and now it won't go past 3000 RPM's but if he runs the stock ECU from the CRX it will run properly without VTEC but if he puts a VTEC Controller on the stock CRX ECU then it will only rev to like 3000 again so please help me out. Thanks

Re:VTEC problem
maybe the chip in the ecu is set for only 3000rpms?does the car run at all, maybe its in limp mode and have a bad chip in it.

Re:VTEC problem
Does the car haver a solid check engine. If so the chip is bad or the soldering job is bad not having all pins of the eprom in contact with the motherboard.

Re:VTEC problem
I had wondered about the soldering job on the ECU and the program since it was one from Gay Bay but why would it also go into limp mode while he was using the stock non VTEC ECU and then when he installs the controller it goes limp again. If he is running a Gen 1 then he is OBD0 right so if I were to chip an ECU for him then what would I need to run on it. TurboEdit or what because Uber is for OBD1 right. I have done some Uber maps and things but nothing for a B motor. Thanks
