Re: Vitara Info??

dont waste your time with the vitaras.. this is coming from someone who has them. Spend the extra money now and build your engine with a good set of forged pistons that will give you the correct piston to wall clearances. Oh, and dont use your y8 head.

what about vitaras in a jdm d15b??

I have heard thats the only piston for FI setups on my motor?!?!?

Re: Vitara Info??

d16 only I believe. your d15b will hold up to 11psi with a 14b no problem. Decent tune though.

still runs great with over 12,000 miles on the build.
and btw fast2camciv used the hasting rings with the settup.
d-series parts are throw away parts that are cheap as hell which is why the vitaras compliment a budget build.
clearances are a bit sloppy, but i could give a ----.
if sloppiness bothers you can always get oversized ones and get the cylinders bored and honed accordingly.
forged pistons abviously are a 1st choice for most people.

that's your car?..

i think if you have a cheap and good choice for your setup..go for it! no go directly for the expensivest ----..

Re: Vitara Info??

350-450 for forged pistons is hardly expensive. If you cant afford that you shouldnt be building a car

I pmed that guy a few weeks ago but we was out of them. Plus the money was burning a hole in my pocket so I got them elsewhere. Everyone says hes the go to guy for vitaras.

Re: Vitara Info??

why not buy 75.5 mm Vitaras, have the block properly bored, no more clearance issues.

TorganFM 03-20-2007 04:31 PM

Re: Vitara Info??

Because people are scared to spend the $150 to do it the right way and they think .5mm will make their sleeves fall apart.

cast pistons are cast pistons

Im sorry I dont like doing motor swaps and pulling pistons heads off for fun

Do d series blocks actually hold 400 whp on stock sleeves everytime hell no simple has that.A couple vitara set ups make it on god really knows what kind of dyno's who gives a ---- chasing #'s on dyno's is a waste of time

stock sleeves crack thats part of turbo cars. Do cast pistons break ringlands easy yes

spend another couple hundred bucks god forbid you want a piston that can take ass tuning and pinging like a botch and keep taking it

---- through an fmu on some forged psitons and go have fun
