Violent Shake when in 1st gear
whenever I drive in 1st gear the car would shake violently. And the shake would eventually go away after shifting to 2nd. It would shake badly. The rest of the other gears are fine. Only 1st and reverse is the only gear that would shake violently
Does bad motor mounts cause the engine to shake this bad? |
Re: Violent Shake when in 1st gear
i hope to god your not talking about tire hop and if you are ??? you a dumb ass
but if your not then i would say the motor mounts but usually it is just more of a clunk not a shaking feeling. |
Re: Violent Shake when in 1st gear
How do the axles look? Jack it up in the air and run through the gears and see if you can see anything obvious.

Re: Violent Shake when in 1st gear
This a tranny that has been making alot of noise?
If it is....... DEAD ISB, extremely bad, not fixable, don't even try. |
Re: Violent Shake when in 1st gear
axles came off my other civic and was in good working condition. No not wheel hops. I wasnt revving it either. And the tranny is in good condition. Tranny is super quiet. Im guessing a worn out lower motor mount that connects the AC bracket to the under Frame. It is shape like a U. A bad motor mount can cause the front of the car to shake this badly? But then again if the motor mounts is bad. Wouldnt it shake in every gear? Why just first gear?
