Vavle sticking open?

My intake vavle is sticking all the way open on cyclinder number 1. I take off the vavle cover, hit the vavle spring it puts back closed but as soon as i crank over the motor and start the car it stays stuck wide open. How do i fix this do i have to take out the spring and reinstall it or what any ideas? I tried revving the motor and driving it but it just stays stuck open.

That's kind of a serious problem. I'd replace the valve springs and possibly retainers.

If it stays all the way open them is probably bent by now.

word, could now have a bent valve, f'd valve guide, loads of issues. Just drop a new head on and you'll be better off... let me know if you need a old d-series...

The valves are bent for sure. If you have a d series just find a good cheapo head and slap it on.

you might of had a hell of alot of carbon just built up to where it just stays open. but yeah id go with the rest of the fine gentlemens ideas and trash the old head and buy a new one.
