Valve spring tool to use on a Ls head?

I need to know what valve spring compressor tool to use to take out the springs. Ive tried the ones that grab the spring and push down on the top of the retainer,( like this one http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...d=valve+spring ) but I cant get it so fit around the spring due to lack of clearance. The went to sears and picked up the spring compressor they have( like this one http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...d=valve+spring ) and its the big to fit around also. So I think that the next step would be this one, or take a socket cut a slot in it to access the retainer and use with the C clamp.

I use the big C clamp style and i bought the attatchment from honda for it, but its pretty much just a socket with a slot in it. taking out the spring just take a 14mm or so socket with a extension and smack it with a hammer :6

Word.
Use a spark plug socket with a magnet inside so the keepers jump up there instead of down into the oil gullies :3

I took one of those c-clamp style ones and welded a portion of a jack handle on it, with slots cut on the side. Its not ideal, but it was cheaper than one of those deck mounted ones.

I would get one of those then, it would probably save shitloads of time. I'm gonna look into one of them myself!

I just use a chuck of pipe with a notch cut out and a magnet. set the head on the ground filling the combustion chamber with paper towels to hold the valves then just push your weight on em. No big clamp is really needed.

HMT is great. If you have a couple extra bucks the snap on tools style tool which china copied works great and for dohc vtec heads is a must
