yes it will work, you might want to try doing a search on google for more info and by the way its VTEC not VTECH

Since this is not Honda-tech, I wont flame you since you miss-spelled VTEC, their is no H in it.. People make spelling errors all the time, especially myself.

Yes, that Head will bolt right on your 90 si. This swap is known as the "Mini-me" vtec head on a non-vtec block. Its a very simple swap, you will use the D16a6 intake manifold on the d16z6 head, so the injectors and everything works properly.

You will need to remove the oil oriface jet on the deck of the block once you get the old head off. sometimes you can pop it out with some plyers. This is so oil pressure can reach the head, and the vtec oil pressure solinoid can take care of it. If you dont remove it.. NO VTEC!

You can use either head gasket.. 88-91 or the newer metal style gasket for 92-95. The d16z6 head gasket is very nice, but cost slightly more. Better for boosted apps too.

Now the hard part, some people argue you have to do an entire OBD1 swap running the P28 ecu (92-95 civic si/ex ecu) in order for the car to run perfectly. That is alot of wiring and if you dont know what you are doing, you are going to end up with a huge headache and a car running like ---- if its not done right. So what alot of people do, is get a vtec controller, that will manually trigger the vtec solinoid, then adjust the fuel patterns in the vtec controller to give it more fuel throughout the rpm range. Its best to tune on a dyno when doing this.

Good luck,

Jeff Frank

VTEC = variable valve timing and lift eletronic control

VTECH = electronic contract manufacturer of high volume consumer and telecommunication products.

what would you rather have in your car VTEC engine or VTECH car phone. hard choice.

wutr would be the compression ratio on that set up would the compression raise since ur puttin a vtec head simmilar to a ls/vtec set up the compression raises

HMT-Admin 01-06-2003 09:19 PM

Re:v-tech on a 90 si

ls/vtec's are actually pretty low compression, especially if you use stock b18a/b pistons

B18 w/ GSR head 9.8
B18 w/ B16 head 9.5
