v-tec head on stock b18a block.. worth it??

i'm planning to throw a b16 head on my stock b18a block.
i don't wanna pull the motor..just wondering if it'll be worth it...maybe headers, type R intake manifold, cam's and cam gears will be in the head...just wondering if it'd be worth the horsepower numbers, or it'd be better just keeping the stock head...it looks pretty good on Jeff's crx..175hp that'd be nice..not looking for crazy horsepower numbers...plus this is on my 90 integra..should i change the tranny to a b16? or leave it stock?...sorry not really crx or turbo related...but you guys know a lot!..thanks

That would be a nice setup. It wont have quite as high compression numbers compared to Jeffs because he used the P72 head, and you are planning a PR3 head. The HP might still be even greater than Jeffs if you plan to build the head with nice NA cams.

Besure to replace the oil pump with a Vtec pump.. it is very important.

Using a nice set of cams, with a B16a head you are probably going to get the same numbers as me..

but then again, I do have the PROFLOW Throttle body :-*
thats atleast 30 to the wheels just for the name! ;)

thanks again...i'm not looking for all that much horsepower..just a little more umph...i would just shoot some nitrous, but people always like seeing the DOHC v-tec on the valve cover..hehe..i already have a 90dodge colt as my race car...i use to own a crx with a zc long ago..thats why i like ta hang out here..and you guys are the bomb!oh by the way..which tranny would work the best? my ls tranny is all grind up, so it needs a change anyway..thanks again!

which tranny, well depending on your area you might have a difficult time just finding a B-series cable tranny period! they are rare and kinda spendy. But if you do have access to some... this is what I would suggest

JDM Y1 or YS1 w/ LSD
JDM J1 or S1
USDM YS1
USDM s1/a1

The shortest gearing is the JDM J1, some people dont like it because the ratio is so close. 60mph @ 4200rpm!

I have used the Y1 and now the US YS1, which really reduced the gearing. Driveability around town is fine, the freeway sucks. The track is great, although I do top it out in 5th just about when at a long straight.
