UN-mini ME low compression

I'm sure I'm not the only one to think of this...

Z6 block, and 88-91 Si non-vtec head = no vtec and low compression. The Z6 has small combustion cambers and dished pistions, so add a CRX head with kinda big combustion cambers to a block with dished pistions and you get... LOW COMPRESSION, perfect with a turbo, right ?

I figured one time, and I think it was like 8.1/1 compression !!

Any comments or ideas as to how well this would work ?

I just did an entire D16Z6 swap into my civic...hehe..

Re:UN-mini ME low compression

why are people that do mini me swaps always talking about compression.. ---- compression u dont need to worry about it on a d series motor. unless you have some aftermarket high compression pistons or a head that milled to hell. many pro racers now days are running higher compression and less boost..

Re:UN-mini ME low compression

mini-me has a really high compression ratio of 11:1, not ideal for turbo but can be done with proper tuning like anything else. Keep the poundage low, and slap some injectors and an afc in it.

11:1 compression with a mini-me....how does the compression jump from 9 something to 11:1

Re:UN-mini ME low compression

cause your putting 2 different engines together simple...

Re:UN-mini ME low compression

I would luv a compression ratio of 11:1...
damnn that's some nice power all over the powerband

Re:UN-mini ME low compression

I think putting a non-vtec head on your Z6 block would be a waste of time. There are a bunch of people on this site boosting stock Z6 motors with no problems. It already has low compression anyways 9.2:1

Re:UN-mini ME low compression

20psi on pump gas would be cool, not 15psi with race gas.

The "un-mini me" would drop the compression like crazy. But I want something that is kinda fast all the time, not just when I "prep" it for the track, and put 116oct. in it.

Re:UN-mini ME low compression

put some toulene in it and you can up the boost hehehehe

Xylene user for years..!! But still not cheap enough for a daily driver.

aha I'm planning on using it when racing....

Re:UN-mini ME low compression

according to this site http://www.knology.net/~jediklc/ compression should be at around 8.4/ youll notice a difference in the low end but youll be able to boost more. i might try this since i have z6 shortblock in my garage. but im waiting for my a6 motor to give up on me so i can grab the head off of it. dam it just keeps going and going... ;D

i dunno about 11:1 compression, are you guys sure?

jeff's ls/vtec compression is like 19.2:2 or around there i believe

Now that's what I'm talking about, I got the idea everyone was thinking I meant a Mini-me. 8.4/1 compression sounds SWEET as hell for a turbo honda !!! A friend on mine is putting Z6 pistons in his A6 block in a few months hopefully.. He already has a greddy turbo kit.

Re:UN-mini ME low compression

the comp would be 8.134469713946991-1 cr

and the mini me is from 10.4-1 all the way to 12.34 depending on which parts selected, not that ideal for boost

Re:UN-mini ME low compression

hey I think that UN-minime sounds sweet! You can get some upgraded internals and go for a HMT boost record! If those DSM guys can run 20 psi, why can't we??

HMT-Admin 05-12-2003 04:19 PM

Re:UN-mini ME low compression

I'd rather start with a higher compression engine and run less boost with good fuel managment, than a ------- incredibly low c/r and massive boost.. ::)

Re:UN-mini ME low compression

My friends GN runs 8.5/1 compression and 26psi and makes 800hp... But for a D-series ( with its limited stock internals, I see your point ).

Semnos 05-13-2003 06:02 PM

Re:UN-mini ME low compression

with a higher compression you will get more power over the entire powerband and not only more power atwhere the turbo is all spooled up.
More boost doesn't always mean more power.

89dxhunchback 05-14-2003 04:21 AM

Re:UN-mini ME low compression

I know, but more compression does always mean more knock, unless you drive around on 100oct.

8.4/1 with 15psi will smack the same motor with 9.2/1 with 8psi...
