Turn signal not canceling.

Turn signal not canceling.
I picked up a 96 4 door Civic. It has some small issues. It was cheap. Anyway. The turn signal doesnt cancel in either direction. I havent taken it apart because of the snow. So am I looking at an entire turn signal stalk? Or does this have a replacable cam like the old school cars? I will just order it now and get at it when it warms up a bit.
Thanks
David
P.S. Yes I lost my service manual from my 96 hatch, dammit.

Re: Turn signal not canceling.
take off your steering column covers (might have to take off wheel but not sure)
take the turn signal off
there should be a small nubbin on the side that locks up or down when you move the signal leaver
if its missing thats your problem if its not and it works then your missing a plastic peace that fits around the steering shaft (i think under the clock spring)
it has a hole in it that makes the clicking sound when your turning the way your signal is on and when you turn it back it turns off the signal
CAUTION
if your removing the steering wheel and clock spring make sure that the wheels are straight and that you DO NOT TURN THE CLOCK SPRING when you take it off (i tape mine so it wont move on me) and put it back in the same position
if you put it on wrong it will break the spring inside and your air bag will be damaged (very expensive to replace and to get recoded at dealership)
