turbo on b17 & mini-me ?

i have a 90 ls with a 93 gsr engine! i wanted to no ifs a good idea to turbo it my self and is it safe? i have a volvo turbo, supra front mount intercooler. i need to get a manifold, fmu, bov, boost & controler. my brother has a 240sx with the ca18det and that ---- pulls! and my goal is to be faster than him.so if anyone can help me out with some info that would be great.

oh and my brother with a crx did the mini-me swap! how fast is it post to be? he has intake,dc header, test pipe, and tanabe super cat back.but its not really quick.he's runing an integra 90 ls ecu with some bull ---- v-tec controller box he got for summit racing. so i think the reason its not fast is that maybe v-tec doesnt work?or something. he got his info from crx.honda-perf.org and did what they said to do. may be its fast and i'm just crazy :o but i no he pulled like 3-4 cars on a stock crx si on the interstate.so please let me no about this to thanx!

maybe the teg ecu is hindering performance as it is for DOHC engine.. try a stock Si ecu and see what happens.

A B17 turbo would be just fine.. its nothing more than a stroked B16.

Re:turbo on b17 & mini-me ?

can you buddy with the mini me here the vtec change over? he should b able to hear it w/ an intake and exhaust. If not, then his vtec might not be engaging.

Im not sure.. Jeff would know, ,but that rpm activator he has from summit racing was probably designed for v8's. If he sets the rpm to say, 4400 he would have to change it to kick in at 2200 for a 4 cyl. (half the # os cyl).

Im dont know for sure. wait for ppl to respond to this reply b4 u do anything.

now now!!! I said wait for ppl to say something because I wasnt sure! Read the instructions VERY thoroughly and see if it says anything about # of cylinders..

IF.. BIG IF, I am correct he would have to set it to 2500 RPM to come on at 5k

Not sure if the msd activator switch has that, Since its picking up the tach signal I dont think it will be a problem.

But if you use a MSD 6 series, you do have a "cylinder select" that lets you go from 4-6-8 cylinders.

Just read the directions and see what it says, shouldnt be a big deal.

Jeff, he's using an RPM activated switch from Summit racing, ,not a msd... thats why i said the v8 thing.
