Re: trying to use a relay as a kill switch

one will be a ground and the other will be a switched postive... run power from the battery to your switch, and then from the switch to the relay. If you're trying to cut all power, you'll need a monster relay. Most would melt if you try to start your car...

Cut the wire coming from the main fuel relay to the fuel pump and take the hot side (connected to MFR) and connect it to 86 and then connect 85 to ground.

12v Power from battery to 87
Take the cold side (into the fuel pump) and wire it to 30
do nothing with 87a

Johhny, if your trying to cut power to your battery, you need to use a high power solenoid and not a relay. You can use a product like the PAC-200 shown in the following link. http://www.pac-audio.com/products/relays.htm If you gonna try and use a relay on your fuel pump like Chris is talking about and you want to use a toggle switch, instead of connecting 85 to ground, connect on end of the toggle to ground and the other end to 85. This will stop power from flowing through the relay when the switch is off and will allow the relay to flow power when on. Good luck mang.

Select Products sell it for $79.99 and you would prolly get hit with a $15 shipping charge from them. I have an account with them, but I don't know what my cost would be, I would have to get back to you once I got into the shop tomorrow. The downfall would be that it takes a week to get to me and then additional shipping costs to you, blah blah blah. Prolly just best to order it directly from them or do some searching and see if you can find it cheaper elsewhere. Might also consider calling some local autoparts stores and see if they have some high current solenoids available.

Yea, that is really intended for a high end audio application, but seeing as how you wanted to use a toggle, it should work. If your looking for a disconnect for racing/track purposes, I am not even sure that having a toggle inside the car would pass. Not sure what your doing though. :-\
