tranny people i need your help!
Alright well my third gear is fucked up and grinds like crazy going into it so i decided to tear it apart and fix it. Well all the syncros look fine but i dont know too much about trannys. Well anyway i was just gonna replace the syncros that would be affected from third gear. Here is a pic of the inside of it. Can someone point out which syncros are for third gear! THANKS!!

what year 'cord tranny? Looks like a Teg B series to me.......only flippeed 180 degrees..............what the hell??????

In the pic, you have 5-R slider, the 3-4 slider on the leftmost shaft....... 4th gear brass is visible, 3rd is on the underside. C M.../ \FD ring ....R.......... doubt it helps......... mista bone you lost me... I think your saying that the affected syncro would be on the counter shaft right? Here is a pic i had of the countershaft. Maybe it will be easiser to explain with this pic.

No the third syncro is located on the main shaft and is the one closer to the clutch.

i dont get why people act like these things are so complicated? I have ripped both the mainshaft and the countershaft apart and put it back together about 3 times already and havent had the slightest problem at all. I just make sure everything goes back the way it was in the first place and everything is fine. |

lowest brass ring on the left shaft, hidden in the pic by the 3-4 slider

that engine and tranny combo came from the 3rd gen accord rigt? i was think about swapping that into my 88 hatch, but decided not to because of "part availability" and go turbo ls vtec instead. if im not mistaken the transmission from the 86-89 accord and 86-87 prelude transmission will bolt directly to that block. i have rebuilt countles (5) 3gen accord trannies. i kept poping 3rd and 4 and 5th gears in tem. "damn high comp A20a3 motor" but it is just like everyone said.
you are on the right track. oh some advise: when you go to re-tq the shafts. tq them only to where the original bends in the nuts line up. if you go past that you will decrese your clearance in the transmission, and seize the gears together, "i have done this on my first rebuild" unless you go and clearance everything with the shafts tq to spec, thats my 2$ Nick |

you also might want to check out www.3gees.com they have alot of writeups on this stuff. i know most people there are dicks, but they tend to have some good info.
