tranny noise
ok heres the story. a friend of a friend was having problems with her tranny in her 97 civic, where it was popping out of gear and grinding pretty bad. so i told her that i would swap it out with another one that this guy was selling. anyways now that the new one is on it shifts smooth as hell but its making a wierd noise. when eccelerating it feels a bit like the wheels are unbalanced and you can feel a slight "bump, bump, bump....." through the steering wheel. and then when the car is in gear deccelerating without the clutch pushed in it makes kinda a grinding sound.
i have been told that it is the throw out bearing and then somebody else said it could be the main shaft bearing. anybody know what it is? i really dont want to take this tranny apart. |

women shouldn't drive manuals, manual cars, or cars.

Re: tranny noise
A buddy of mine had a bad isb for atleast 2+years in his civic. Besides the annoying noises car was fine. Removed only due to b18b1 swap.

Re: tranny noise
will fixing this usually solve the unbalenced feelign too? the car drove pretty smooth before swapping trannys with the exception of the grinding and popping out of gear.

Re: tranny noise
ISB's are easy for me, but then again I've done quite a few.
