s1's use the small shaft and y1's use the big shaft. I dont exactly remember the sizes off the top of my head.

Incorrect info, only the YS1 got the larger bearings, 92-93 GSR. The Y1/S1/J1 all used the smaller bearing setups.

hmm are you sure the 92-93 Trannys dont use the big shaft? I was pretty certain the Y1 and the YS1s both usdm and JDM use the larger shaft.

Well there has to be a differnce, because there are 2 different part #'s for 90-91 clutchs vs 92-93 clutchs.

I thought the S1/A1/J1 all used the smaller shaft 90-91?

Every B-series tranny I've ever worked with was like that.

Also the 92-93 shafts should be the same size as the 94-01 because I used a 98 gsr disc in my 92 Ls tranny.

yet to deal with a 92-93 LS so I could be wrong there. But I have the guts from 2 90-91 USDM LS and 3 JDM Y1/Si trannys laying here in tote boxes. They all died the same diff explosion from the pinion pin issue........

also, it would seem logical that Honda went with harden pinion shafts across the board in 1992.

Now, I'll bet the JDM trannys didn't get the harden pins until 1994. I'm thinking the harder shafts were part of the USDM production.

I wanna see if the newer shafts will retrofit into the older diffs. If so, then have a batch made and offer as a upgrade for the weak pins. Not everyone needs a LSD, the pin upgrade would be cheap parts wise, just the install would take time. PG tried the same thing for the Neons, ended up with a higher failure rate.
