TRANNY ADVICE

Guys. I Got A ZC Motor Direct bolt in replacement for my DX CRX Today. Does anyone Know if my DX Tanny will bolt directly to this motor? It has a Automatic tranny Bolted to it right now. Also what wires do I have to run to get this motor to work.

Thanks.

the ZC will bolt to that trans. but im unsure if the ecu controls the trans or not. if the ecu does control the trans you may have either fuel problems w/ the stock ecu, or trans problems w/ the zc/si ecu. I think Civic Si's had an automatic version, that ecu would work well.

wires should be plug and play i believe. if u use a ZC distributor you will need to move two wires from the dist to the end of the exhaust cam for crank angle sensor.

My 1990 civic si had a d16 to sohc zc swap and everything bolted up perfectly. but i am having a problem with the check engine light coming on when there is a elevation increase/decrease... you shouldnt have a problem, pop it out and see what happens!

Follow the information needed to do the DPFI to MPFI zc swap. The motor should bolt up to the tranny as long as it's the black top zc. There is a separate ecu for your auto tranny located either under the drivers or passengers seat that works in conjunction with your main pM5 ecu. You may want to consider using a 90-91 PM6 from a 4dr EX with auto, easier to chip plus the fuel maps will be better for the zc.
If I were you I'd convert the auto to a manual. This would be the time to consider it. You'll never feel the full potential behind an auto tranny.
Good luck.

Actually, try to look for a PG7 Auto ECU.. since its a ZC. 88-89 tegs (d16a1's) obd0 had auto trans.

Re:TRANNY ADVICE

I dont think the PG7 form 88-89 can be socketed and upgraded as easy as the 90-91 PM6 via ghettodyne or
PGMFI.com. Besides, IMO I've run across more 90-91 4dr ex autos than 88-89 teg autos. BTW I have an auto PG7 from 88-89.
Otherwise I'd agree with you.
