TORQUE HELP

what do you torque the camshaft caps to?it has the 12mm bolts in the center and the 4 10mm bolts on the outside. this is on a b16 and my manual says 192inlbs on the 8mm ans 92 on the 6mm? it didnt make sense to me and my torque wrench is in ftlbs.

Re:TORQUE HELP

get the right torque wrench, cost about $100 for a good one to measure in/lbs.

BTW 12 in/lbs = 1 ft/lbs

Re:TORQUE HELP

just make them tight enough. unless you have money for the corrrect tq wrench. I snapped the head off of one of mine almost a year ago and I havent gotten around to tapping it out yet :o

So now, I tighten everything until it stops turning easily and then just a little bit more. Especially valve cover nuts.

i believe cam cap bolts are 18ft/lb for the 12mm ones and 6 or 8 ft/lb for the 10mm ones and the vc bolts are also 6 or 8 ft/lb

Re:TORQUE HELP

I must have had a bad bolt then. I had my tq wrench set to 7 lb/ft

Re:TORQUE HELP

likely it was your wrenches fault. Get that low in the setting, most wrenchs are verying inaccurate. Why you invest in a good in/lb wrench, or use the German method.
