i wouldnt trust e-bay crap for something as important as a timing belt. go to the dealer and get the kit. belt, tensioner, and h2o pump.

Re: Is this timing belt shit?

Considering how many belts Gates makes it woulden't suprize me if they make the OEM ones.

Re: Is this timing belt shit?

80% of the belts i install at work are gates. 29% is dayco, and 1% goodyears. Ive had yet to have 1 of any brand come back due to failure. Ive had gates on all my cars too, never failed (knock on wood). Id give it a shot, its decent priced and HAS to be better than the similar priced 'obx racing red and blue' belts and similar quality as the greddy and hks colored 'racing' belts for fractions of the price.

I run dayco/OEM honda.

Not that expensive for OEM stuff, well worth the peace of mind.

Re: Is this timing belt shit?

in the explanation, it says the belts are tested at 6000rpm at 212 degrees.
how many people limit their revs to 6000 rpm?
I personally revs to 9600 rpms and my engine temps at 215, and egt temps at 1500deg
aggressive camshafts and stiiffer valve springs and high boost, so I would not want to use a best with such low ratings. I uses a OEM belt but it worries me sometimes so I am thinking of getting a greddy, I used one on my b16 setup and I was comfortable with it.

plus also said the belts are made in JAPAN but on the belts it says made in USA. too fishy.

DUDE think about the amount of s2K's and ITR's that have been beaten on the track for relentless hours with stock motors. They basically rev to 9K and incredible temperatures, and i'm willing to bet they're driver harder than your car. If then don't have problems, i bet you won't either. Honda doesn't make ----, ya know?

There is nothing stronger than Gates/OEM available.

Seeing as how the stress your belt undergoes isn't anything compared to the large handful of cars spinning 12K, I wouldn't worry about it.

Re: Is this timing belt shit?

cool thanks!
hope the $130 dollars I saved is worth it and wont bite me in the ass later. but again people were running oem belts long before greddy etc. so I am good then

I'll put in my two cents here, I have two choices that I always use when I replace my timing belts every season, along with all my friends dont dont have their own tools. I use TRUST belts and also GATES, But like I said I change mine out every season. :y

I run low CR LS engines, I replace my timing belts when they break.

Re: Is this timing belt shit?

I went ahead and got a greddy one, from a reputable dealer so i know i wasnt getting any ching chong meow ----...

Id say OEM is the way too, unless you want a bit of extra durability. I believe that the greddys have a bit of kevlar reinforcement...

Majestic sells the OEM one for 58 bux i believe when i was lookin.

Re: Is this timing belt shit?
