timing belt question
Ok so a few days ago I put a new timing belt on my d15 an I lined up the crank pulley marks an then put the cam pulley in the up position like it is in the manual. I started it up today an it ran like ----, so I shut it off an looked at the pulleys again an when I line up the crank pulley the (up) on the cam pulley is now at the bottom an I have no clue how it happened. has this happened to anyone else?

Re: timing belt question
Is your tensioner properly loaded? It sounds like your belt jumped.

Re: timing belt question
with #1 cylinder at TDC
with a D15 you are suppose to line up the paraller line on the cam gear (3 and 9 oclock mark) with the edge of the head. line up crank pully TDC mark with the notch on the block cover |
Re: timing belt question
set it up with the tensioner loose, then turn it over a few times by hand counterclockwise and check it...then tighten it

Re: timing belt question
I have not looked at it today but I was thinking the crank pulley just needs one more revolution an it would bring the cam pulley back to the up position then I would just have to set the belt one tooth ahead. does that sound about right to you guys
