Timing Belt Problems

I have finally got my timing belt on, and the TDC all lined up. Starts right up, but I have to turn it off immediately because the belt is sliding off the cam gears and water pump. Any ideas what causes this and how to stop it?

the tensioner pully might be bad..or did you tighting your belt good enough?also did you pull the crank pully off?if you don't put the spacer back on your belt will hang somewhat off the cam gear..or could be a stretched belt..

Re:Timing Belt Problems

The belt seems to be nice and tight. I did tighten the tensioner bolt. Perhaps maybe too much? I just found that damn peice you're talking about on the crank pulley, that isn't on. I spaced it.

Also I should mention the plastic cover for the side is not on yet. I was just trying to make sure I got everything right before putting it back on.

The belt is brand new, I wouldn't imagine the belt would be stretched out. I'm replacing the water pump, so I figured I'd do the timing belt since I'm there.

Also this is on a DOHC ZC.

Thanks for the quick response man.
