Thinkin about doin the LS/VTEC swap

Well Im not going to be selling my 99EX now...personal choice. Anyways, would it be smart to do an LS/VTEC and swap out my Y8? I seen alot of poeple doing it and wanted some input. I would go with a B16, but a long block is hella $$$$. My PLAN was to assemble the engine gradually and once I have it all together , swap it in. But I would need to convert to manual trans and ---- too, and any input on the ECU since Im OBDII...

Just get a conversion harness for the ECU to OBDI, the manual swap isn't all that hard at all. A monkey with a flashlight could do it in an afternoon.

I'd just start collecting parts, its a pretty easy swap and once you felt a boosted B-series, your will never want to ---- around with a D again. The auto-manual swap is pretty straight forward, and your definatly going to need to get a jumper harness to go to obd1 =)

Yes, Paul, you'll need different mounts.

I'd offer to go to wagner's with you to help you look for parts, but I'm banned for life from there. haha

I'm going to be building an N/A LS/Vtec for my fiance for next season. I may put it into my car, give her the ZC and do a full out 450hp build, but probably not!

You will need a 99-00 Civic SI back mount. 99-00 engine harness ( because you can't use the auto harness its different) tranny mount from any 96-00 civic (and frame bracket) for the drivers side mount you can pretty much ------ rig that :-P or just use a 99-00 SI mount there too ;-)

Long story short, Tim (stenseltizm) me, and my buddy Skip (altimaracer88) all went to the local 'yard to check out some stuff... skip was looking at the altimas, I was looking through the SE-R's for a gauge cluster (they wanted $75 :1 ) and through the Civics just for kicks, and Tim was looking at various parts for his h22 buildup. Well, he wanted to see if a distributor from an f22ax and the throttle body from an h23 would work on his h22. He had sketches of both on him. He took off the distributor off of an Accord, saw that the pattern was the same and walked over to the Preludes, forgetting to put it back on. Some dumbass hick came over and started screaming at Skip and I that we needed to tell our friend to leave (He said that Tim was trying to steal the distributor... if he was trying to steal it, do you think he would have left it in the engine bay?), then he said that he left (even though he didn't ??? :8 ) so I told Tim what he said and he didn't care lol, so Skip tim and I were back by the prelude and the dude rolls up as Tim chucks the tb under the car (so he doesnt accuse him of that too) and he said we needed to leave IMMEDIATELY or he'd call the cops :1 What a dumbass. And Tim was looking at the H22 swap too, and Skip was looking at a ~1997 Nissan 200SX SE-R for $800 from there, and neither of them have shown interest since we got kicked out. I figure if I ever go back that I'll probably get kicked out if the guy recognizes me.

I just don't think I'd be able to stay if he was there and recognized me :3 I'd like to smash a D series over that guys head.
