switching distributor insides
 

I'm doing the obd0-obd1 conversion and I got the cheaper d-series civic obd1 distributor to put on my b16, and the problem is the legs are way the hell off. I want to put the insides from the obd1 distributor into the obd0 distributor, is this possible? I have both distributors sitting here, but I can't dissasemble them completely right now because the screws are crazy tight so I'm going to buy one of those tapper things to get them out. will the obd1 internals go into the obd0 dizzy without a problem? my obd0 vtec distributor is in really good shape so I don't want to chop it up, I do have an obd0 LS distributor that I will chop up. let me know, thanks.

I was going to change my sig last night to say something about me needing a car, I'm glad I didn't. points for me not getting banned +1

well so far the obd1 dizzy cap doesn't even fit on the obd0 dizzy frame, that's a bad sign.

I invested probably 6 hours into taking the distributors apart, and now I know that you can't switch the insides too easily. anybody know how to take the little spinny things off the shaft so I can put the obd1 mutli-splined wheel onto the obd0 shaft and have a working obd1 distributor inside the shell of the obd0 one? here's my lab write up on the experience:

on both obd0 and obd1 there's the spiral thing and a 4 point kinda spiral thing, then there's the multi spoke wheel, 16 splines on obd0 and 24 splines on obd1. that wheel is larger on obd1. the shaft that all those spirals and wheels are on is longer on obd1 and the mounting points on the distributor body are different. on both the 4 point wheel's sensor have wht/blu and org/blu wires, on obd0 the multi-splined wheel's sensor has org and wht wires and the sprial's sensor has blu/grn and blu/yel wires; on obd1 the multi splined wheel has blu/grn and blu/yel wires and the spiral's sensors have org and wht wires.

its kinda difficult but there is some sort of clip holding the spinny thing on the rod..good luck getting it of without having to swear at it or breaking anything.

I tried knocking that ---- out with a screw driver and a hammer, but it didn't work. I'm just going to have to start chopping dizzy legs off to get them to fit.

I was gentle with the screw driver and hammer, plus that ---- is made of metal so it will live. and I'm not the first person to chop dizzy legs off to get them to fit.

it's not as bad as I made it out to be, come check it out, for the most part all the pins sit flat against the sleeves.
