Swap for turbo need ideas -
 
Ok currently Im running a d16y8 bone stock with a custom t25 turbo setup - everything is running fairly well and Im still expanding on my fuel management system - however the d16 just isnt making the kind of power I want it too - so I'm thinking I want to build a larger block for a larger turbo. The turbo will probably be a t3/t4 or something close to that size and I want to be able to boost myself up to over 350hp. The catch is I only want to put a max of about $3000 into this thing. That may or may not include the turbo depending on how much I end up paying for all the other parts so- if anyone can help me with a good idea for what Im going to need besides forged internals (if you feel like it let me know who you recommend) and what block you recommend, intake manifolds ect, ect...let me know. Well if you are going to have a budget of 3000 bucks a b-series swap is out of the picture so a bottom end build up is what you are going to have to do. Put in a set of Eagle rods and Roller wave Forced induction pistons. (new bearings/headgasket/seals etc etc) this will run you around 1200 bucks depending if you wanna do machine work or just slap the pistons in. I wouldnt worry about the sleeves 3-400 is pretty safe (if tuned correctly) on stock sleeves. Do some port work on the head, find a decently sized cam for the SOHC vtec, I think zex has one. Then buy a decent clutch that will hold some power, like a ACT XT/SS. Assuming your turbo setup is already pretty decent, I'd just upgrade the turbo to a Precesion SC50 or SC34. These turbos are by far the best on the market right now for sport compacts. The SC50 is the smallest that precesion makes in the Sport compact series. This turbo can put down easy 400whp.

All of that together should be around 3 grand. good luck,

there you go. also you should look into using vitara pistons. there is a great thread on them on the site, just search for it or something....

How much am I going to have to spend to do the b-series swap - the way I need to do it, because I want to be able to put down only the kind of power a b-series can? Im sick of SOHC i feel like its really limiting me...

Well a B-series swap is going to be easy over 2000 bucks, plus you will need to redo your turbo setup completely and thats going to be easy over 1000 bucks.

So now you have a boosted stock b-series, putting down around 225~300ish whp (depending on what is done)
and on a stock clutch.

but he also has room for improvement when he's ready to build the b-series.

Ok - so final price tag if I want to build a b-series for some serious boost? Short of sleeving the block which I think is going to run something like $1000+? But built and balanced? My current turbo setup is a T25 on stock internals on a d-series- I know it has potential but i dont feel like building that block because I think the SOHC is going to limit me

Ok, so after you spent about 3 grand on your B-series swap and new turbo setup, your probably looking at spening close to another 2 grand in clutch setup along with pistons/rods and any other goodies you want to throw in. (lsd/cams/intake mani etc etc)

This ---- gets so expensive so fast its unreal

OK so I was probably lying to myself about how much it was going to cost. I want to convert my civic for show, and do sort of a race inspired thing, but it looks like i might have to cut back a little under the hood or a little on cosmetics-and I know how everyone on this website feels about cosmetics so...what would you do for intake mani, clutches ect...what about GSR VS. LS blocks what would you think where might I be able to save some money
