Swap from HELL!!!!

I have a friend who bought a 90 integra LS with a 93 LS engine swapped in. It runs like ----, drains the battery, dash caught on fire, the list goes on and on.

I looked at it and was horrified. The car is an OBD0 car, they took the 90 engine harness, cut off all the connectors, butt connected all the 93 OBD1 plugs to it, and then did the whole OBD0->OBD1 conversion harness with butt connectors. This also includes all the Dash harness conversion all with butt connectors. i bet there is about 200 connectors total, i even saw a few that already vibrated loose.

He has the old distributor and ECU (OBD0). I suggested that he find either a 87-88 integra, or MPFI civic (88-91) (OBD0) or the newer integra OBD1 complete engine harness and dash harness and pick a OBD to go with.

My question is, can he just put the OBD0 distributor into his 93 B18A and run the complete OBD0 system. Im sure if he can he will kill the guys that did the swap for not just doing that in the first place.

Thanks in advance.

jesus christ, i would just pull the motor and burn the car to the ground man, seriously just get a new one of find a junk one and take all the wiring from it and switch it which will be a pain in the ass.

Thats what I told him, pull every piece of wire from the junker and Ill help him replace every wire in his car. I just need to know if we can go back to OBD0 if we use his old dist.

I cant even trace the wiring under his dash since all the insulator is melted together from the fire.

you'll need his old distributor and injectors i believe... or put the resistor box back in or one of those combinations... if the original owner never took out the resistor box for the injectors and he converted to obd1 that can cause some funky idling and make it run like ----. but to go back to obd0 = dist and injectors/resistor box i believe... its not jus the dist.

Yeah, i forgot to post about the injectors, there is a resitor box wired in, well wires ->butt connectors->wires->spade connector->other side of spade connector->wire->butt connector->resistor box......

Its such a nightmare, it there an easy way to tell if the injectors are peak and hold or saturated by inspection??

Re:Swap from HELL!!!!

I just use obd 1 injectors on my MPFI swap so I wouldn't need the resistor box, works great...

Re:Swap from HELL!!!!

those fools are idiots. they should have just took all the old sensors from the obd0 motor that they swapped out and put it on the 93 motor. i believe everything might be the same. i say just ---- the harness, get a new one from the junk yard and wire up the motor as if it was a 90-91 teg. yes you can use the obd0 distributor. change the injectors, run the resistor box. and im sure everything else plugs in.
