Suspension bolt problems...
 

I'm doing a rear disc swap on my 97 Civic and I'm having some trouble with all of the bushings binding to the bolts. I've had to cut out three bolts so far. I soaked them in pb blast and nuked them with a torch. Nothing seems to help. Any ideas?

Most of the time you have to cut and buy new bolts GL but try brake fluid ftw

I wouldn't consider rear disc brakes "Bling Bling". I just want to be able to stop a chassis that was built from the factory for 97whp.

Properly maintained and working drum brakes will work just as good, if not better than disc.

Why do semi's have drums? More contact area of the pads = better stopping power.

I guess that does make sense...But why are most cars now using disc brakes? Easier to change?
At any rate I guess I'm going to have to cut all of these bolts unfortunately...

cheaper to manufacture.

I usually just tighten the bolt about 10 degrees.. (less than 1/8th of a turn)

I live in Michigan where ---- rusts like crazy. and did them on my 280k mile 90 civic, 195k mile 90 integra, and on my 160k mile 92 civic. Didnt have any problems at all..

Make sure that you put anti seize on the bolts before you put them back in.

Same cost to make, but a higher maintance item = more profit at the dealership.

Drum brakes on a Honda need NOTHING for 200,000 miles.

Disc brakes like to hang up which wears out the pad, warps rotors, more headaches.....
