stumbling zc??
ok guys i got a bit of a problem here.i got a dohc zc in a 91 crx si and when i punch it it seems to sputter really bad.the only cel that comes up is a o2 code.now my question is could a bad o2 sensor make my motor run that way?it will stumble realy bad then at times it will stmble then just seem to jerk a tad then runs fine then seems to stumble again.any help on this would be great.

Re: stumbling zc??
Check your fuel pressure.

Re: stumbling zc??
sounds like a missfire
post a video |
Re: stumbling zc??
my pressure is set at 40 psi even at idle,i really dont think fuel prssure is the prob.i think the o2 is going bad and isnt choosing the correct a/f ratio.<<this is just s threoy i have)and i thought i would post up to try to get somemore insight on what it could be.i know it cant be nuttin major or my car would be throwing more then just o2 code.

Re: stumbling zc??
if u post a video when u get a chance we will have a better idea of whats up.
get one of u driving and one of you just revving from engine bay. 02 can cause a rough running but a video will help |
Re: stumbling zc??
yea ill try to get a vid up tomroow ill shoot it on the way to work.ill also get some shot of muber 1 plug and ----.cause i just changed these damn thing friday and they dont look right.ull see what i mean tomroow

Re: stumbling zc??
If u can
check your spark when stumbling. spray the wires and cap with watter and see if it gets worse. is the tack jumpimg? did it start after doing somthing? if so what? |
Re: stumbling zc??
no i didnt do nuttin to the motor.its not boosted my tach doesnt jump it just seems to stuble on itself like its not getting any gas ill try my best to get a vid tomroow.like i said it must be something simple that i have overlooked.keep throwing me out ---- to try and ill give it a shot. :y
now check this out if i put a chiped ecu in there and run the perect pm7 bin it wont do it.but if i put the stock pm7 back in there it starts again, but when i first did the swap i used the same pm7 and it didnt do it till about a month ago.i would run a chip computer but i dont have one i sell them to quick. |
Re: stumbling zc??
I dunno, maybe a vaccum leak, does it idle weird?
|
Re: stumbling zc??
it seems to idle fine right at 950 im going to check for leaks but i dont think there is any.
|
Re: stumbling zc??
back to your original thought....its probably the o2. I have a bad o2 right now w/ the bad o2 code. Idles ok....goes kinda weird when warm. When I drive the car...it'll drive ok under normal conditions. Once I punch it a bit....it'll start stuttering. But if you slowly let it go up the rpms....it'll go up fine. I know its dumping fuel like crazy. So....if you have another 02....swap it. Then let us know.

Re: stumbling zc??
UPDATE!!!!!!!!!
i got another o2 sensor and put it in,it still does it anybody got any other ideal on what could be the prob?? and today i went to see if it would studder well i went to do a small burn out and the cel came on and the car shut off.now when i try to strat it it wont start, the main realy dont click fuel pump dont prime and the light on the ecu does blink.what im going to do is try to change the main relay with a knowen good one and see what happens.correct me if im wrong but if the main relay is blowen the car shouldnt get spark right? |
Re: stumbling zc??
Just an idea but have you looked into a bad TPS? I have a weird stutter in 4th and 5th but just under normal driving. I feather it a little bit or drop down a gear and it goes away... ::)
