Default stripped a bolt on my new obx diff

----.,
I was torquing my ring gear onto my diff, when all of a sudden one of the bolts just started turning without resistance. This bolt was started by hand and it felt no differrent than the others. I chalk it up to OBX shittiness, but anyway my brother and I are arguing about how to fix it. He wants me to shell out the $50 for a Left hand thread M10X1.0 tap. (the diff bolts are all left hand thread) I was thinking of using a right hand thread time sert in the same M10X1.0 size and use Loctite. I'm thinking that one bolt thats not left hand thread should not reallly affect anything. What do you guys think??

I wouldn't think it would be that bad, but chances are it will be that one bolt that ***** you over and ends up costing you $$$ more than the $50 tap would have.

if you tap right hand, use loctite.

You torqued the bolts?

Nothing in the tranny gets torqued

Are you serious about nothing in the trans getting torqued? The Helms spec'd out 75 ft-lbs for the ring gear bolts to the diff. I torqued them in two stages. 0->40->75 ft-lbs. Maybe thats what stripped the hole out.

I would definitely use loctite if I tap right hand.

I use my impact, set on 3 @ 100 psi for the ring gear bolts, it's 70-75, same way I put my wheels on, but I do torque them

Putting the case bolts in, same 1/2" impact, this time set on 1 which = 16-20, the I go around by hand and tighten them.
