stocker than stock car won't start
i have a '91 civic hatch. It's the base model with DPFI & only 4 gears. I have no modifications on this vehicle. It has been running great even with 297k on it. But then, the other morning it wouldn't start. Nothing happened at all when i turned the key, so I thought it was the battery, so i jumped it and checked the voltage.... 12. still nothing.
I then replaced the starter with one from a '92 DX (i had it laying around and it fit). The crank would then at least turn, but it sounded like no ignition. I checked the plugs.... and they were saturated ( i obviously flooded the engine). I took the cap off and noticed that my coil was melted/fried. So, i picked up a new cap, rotor, coil & plugs. I put everything together & the car still wouldn't start. I checked the plugs for spark & they are working.
When I try to start the car, it sounds as if there is no combustion at all...... I am getting spark, & when i take out the plugs they have gas on them, so i'm sure that i'm getting fuel.
WTF?.... any suggestions?

Re: stocker than stock car won't start
i unplugged the wires from the old cap 1 at a time and immediately plugged them in the same order on the new cap. i'm very sure they are in the correct firing order. i'll definitely double-check tonight.

Re: stocker than stock car won't start
i definitely looked into it the problem a lot further last night.
-checked the plug order... fine.
-checked ignition timing... fine.
-checked the ignition control module... fine.
i'm definitely getting spark.
moving on to fuel...
checked the injectors (only 2 of them) for a pulse... yes.
loosened fuel line to check for fuel pressure... none!
the gas guage reads full.... took off the back seat.... checked voltage to fuel pump... only reading 10v. checked voltage when starting car.... still only 10v. i couldn't hear the fuel pump turn on either. i am pretty sure i have isolated the problem to being the fuel pump.
my question is; is it the fuel pump, or is it a wiring problem? does anyone know where the fuel pump wiring grounds to exactly? where do the wires for the fuel pump lead to in the engine bay?
i'm going replace the pump regardless (has nearly 300k on it), i'd like to know where the wires end up in case it may be a bad ground.
thank you for your help.
