what breaks first the rack and pinion, wheels, or whatever crap the steering system has?

 

well on my car i went from stock rims to second hand 17s and if you did anything over 65 the steering became very shakey.so on your car id probably say it could be wheel alignment or a worn steering rack depending on the aqe of the car and if youve kurbed your car a few too many times.

How low of speeds? Look at the alignment first since it's probably the simplest thing to fix. Maybe your tires just need a re-balance?

 

check your tire pressure.

 

also check your tires for broken belts possibly

 

Tire balance. That owned my car when I got it. Had all the wheels rebalanced and it was mint.

 

same thing just happened to my gf's car... tire balance was the cause.

 

i get my tires balanced at least every 10k miles, never have any problems, i can't stand a shaky stearing wheel

 

I been driving with a shaky wheel for almost a year now. lol! I'm too lazy to replace the bearings...
